Project NeuRoBot, development of a biologically inspired neural control architecture for a mobile robot. Most recent developments in the field of neural information processing and neurophysiology shall be applied to create a purely "neural" control hierarchy, with no supervision by conventional algorithms at all. The control hierarchy shall enable a small mobile robot, a Pioneer 3-DX, to navigate thru simple environments and avoid collisions using only on the data delivered by a camera pair, and to reach locations in the environment previously learned by the robot. Funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), in cooperation with Prof. Klaus Obermayer of the NI Group at TU Berlin.
